Asian Wedding Photography
With so many Asian wedding photographers around how do you choose who will photograph you precious wedding day.
You will not doubt have
1) used Google to search the internet for the best photographers.
2) seen adverts for photographer in Asiana Wedding magazine, Asian Bride magazine and other wedding magazines.
3) visited one of these – Asian Wedding Exhibition at Alexander Palace, Asiana Magazine Wedding Show in London, Asian Bride Wedding Exhibitions at Wembley or other indian wedding exhibition held in London, Leicester, Toronto, Vancover, New York, Mumbai, Dubai, New Delhi or a city near you.
4) have a list of recommended wedding photographers from friends and family.
The photographer you choose to capture the natural moments of your wedding day will play a very significant role in what is likely to be the single most important day of your life – Your WEDDING DAY. But then I would say that as I am an asian wedding photographer! Well please consider this: Long after the wedding venue has been handed back, the Mandap has been taken away, the DJs have stopped playing, the guests have gone home, the flowers have wilted, all that will remain are your wedding photographs and memories.
Follow these simple guidelines when selecting a wedding photographer and you might just save yourself from some unexpected heartbreak.
Style of Photography
Look for a photographer whose style of photography that “speaks” to you. His photographs should provoke a positive reaction within you. Every photographer has his or her own unique style. A good wedding photographer should have the ability to really capture mood, emotion, the fun and essence of your wedding day.
More couples are choosing photographers who specialise in the natural, reportage or photo-journalistic approach to weddings. Also look for a photographer who has your best interests at heart.
Wedding Experience
Find out how long the photographer has been shooting weddings and how many weddings he has done. Has he photographed a wedding ay your wedding venue? Has he photographed weddings in difficult conditions. Experience is important, not just for the quality of photography, but also to ensure that your photographer knows how to professionally conduct himself on the job and to deal with the intensity of a wedding.
An experienced wedding photographer will know how to position himself without becoming a distraction to your guests while taking photos. He will be well versed in the wedding ceremonies and rituals of asian and indian weddings. He will be able to keep up with the pace of your wedding day, and be able to deal with the fact that he will have an atmosphere of excitement and emotion swirling around him as he works. And should also know how to work in harmony with your wedding videographer.
Most importantly, he will know precisely how to capture that emotion so it can be preserved for a lifetime!
Personality
Is the photographer that you meet someone that you can get along with? Is the “chemistry” there? Remember, this is a highly personal occasion and you will be working very closely with the photographer. He will be around for the entire day, so it’s terribly important that you are compatible and find likeable. You don’t want someone you find irritating, annoying, or offensive all day long on your wedding day.
References
A personal reference is always the best and people love to talk. Get a list of references from the photographer and check them out . A professional photographer who doesn’t have references or is afraid to give them to you may not be the person that you need to hire.
Wedding Photography costs
In hiring a photographer, you are paying for his or her quality of photography, experience, style, his professionalism, his commitment on your wedding day to get the best photographs for you. Is he a full time professional wedding photographer or is he a part-time photographer? Select a photographer who is within your budget and whose quality and style of photography is consistent with your tastes.
As a general rule though, my best advice is that photography is one area where you shouldn’t intentionally skimp. Remember, 30 years from now, your wedding pictures and album will be all you have to connect you back to this one amazing moment in time – your wedding day.
